The Gift of Less

The Gift of Less

One of the biggest reasons people hold on to things they no longer want is guilt.

Guilt because it was expensive.

Guilt because it was a present.

Guilt because someone they love chose it for them.

Guilt because getting rid of it somehow feels ungrateful.

Small wrapped gift beside an open doorway into a living room.

My clients say it all the time:

“I don’t actually want this, but I can’t get rid of it. It was a gift.”

A gift has already done its job when it was given. You do not have to keep something forever to prove that you appreciated the person who gave it to you.

And this is why I wish we gave each other fewer things.

Take someone to the theatre. Book a beautiful dinner. Give them a yoga membership, a massage, a weekend away, a class they have always wanted to try.

Give them something they can enjoy without having to find somewhere to store it afterwards.

this, but I can’t get rid
of it. It was a gift

I don’t actually want
this, but I can’t get rid
of it. It was a gift

A different kind of gift

For someone who wants a calmer, more organised home, practical help can be a beautiful and genuinely life-changing gift.

The Gift of Less is a personalised decluttering and organising session with me.

It can be completely tailored to the person receiving it, including the length of the session and any organising products you would like included.

The gift card comes beautifully presented in a small wrapped box with all the details inside.
