Once a space is organised, it is essential to add labels. Without labels, things will eventually get mixed up again.
While I am working, I label things temporarily with handwritten masking tape while items are still moving around.
Once everything has a dedicated space, I install proper labels.
Depending on your budget and how particular you are, there are a few different options.
The first three options I can do on the same day at your home. The later options need to be prepared at my office and installed on a return visit.
1. White handwriting on black sticker labels
This is one of my go-to options. It is simple, fast, affordable, easy to replace and still looks super cute. It works well when you want something practical and polished without overcomplicating it.
2. Embossed labels
For smaller items, embossed labels can look really good. They have a slightly retro feel and work well on smaller items such as spice jars, drawers and office supplies.
3. Dymo labels
Standard Dymo labels are great for spaces that need to be organised, but where the look is less important. They are quick and work well for paperwork, office storage, work folders and other practical categories where function matters more than aesthetics.
4. Printed labels
Printed labels on transparent, white or coloured label sheets are a more cost-effective option. They still look neat and polished, and they work well when you need a larger number of labels without going to the premium custom options.
5. Custom mat-laminated picture labels
For kids, I love using custom mat-laminated picture labels. I create an image to represent each toy category, with the category name written underneath. They look super cute and work especially well for children who cannot read yet. Parents often tell me their children love them and enjoy knowing where to find their toys and where to put them back.
If you ever need more, you can always order additional labels from me.
And of course, if you are part of my maintenance programme, I update the labels as life changes.
6. Individually cut vinyl labels
For a super premium look, I create individually cut vinyl labels. These are my personal favourite and they are what I use in my own home. They take a little longer to create and install, but the end result looks amazing and very high-end.
